Community Support Volunteers

Cranford Hospice community support volunteers provide emotional support to our patients, their caregivers and family/whānau. Our volunteers are person centred and provide a listening, non-judgemental ear in a safe and confidential space. Volunteers may visit or call a person for approximately one hour per week or fortnight and then type up and send a brief report to the volunteer coordinator. Volunteers may help to support one person or may support 2-4 people, depending on their availability.

Volunteers undergo full training for their role and ongoing support is provided by the volunteer coordinator, supervision meetings and the family support team.
