We have reached out to the Hawke’s Bay community this July asking them to help fund our nursing programme, and Craigs Investment Partners have come on board to help.
“At the heart of hospice’s services are our nurses. Without our nurses, Cranford simply can’t serve the people who come to us in their time of need. Nurses have the expertise in palliative care and the specialist knowledge that help people to take control of their symptoms so they can live every moment. Our Appeal this winter asks our community to help raise $100,000 to fund our nurses,” Our Marketing and Fundraising Manager, Sheena Revington explains.
Craigs Investment Partners have partnered with Cranford Hospice over the next three years, to support the programme as ‘Nurse Champions’.
“By becoming a Nurse Champion, they will help us shape a sustainable funding future so our nurses can continue to reach those who need us, when they need us,” Ms Revington explains. “Our Nurse Champion project has run alongside our July Appeal for those who have indicated they would support a special project like this, and we are excited by the support we have received for these.”
Phil Williams, Craigs Investment Adviser at the Hawke’s Bay branch says, “We are very pleased to be able to form a partnership with Cranford Hospice to support the invaluable work they do.”
Dene, a patient of Cranford, couldn’t speak more highly of the care he has received.
“The first nurse who ever spoke to me was the one that really opened it up for me. As soon as I told her how much pain I was in and how I felt after taking the medication, she went through what I could do to take control back. I even managed to put weight back on – I can eat a whole pie again!
“I wasn’t told I that I need to finish work. That’s a big one, because work is my passion. I’m a teacher and work with kids. Getting up and getting out of the house, having something to eat. Spending time with my whanau. That’s important to me and Cranford has helped me with that.”
Craigs Investment Partners are also sponsoring the Hole in One in this year’s Rotary Golf Tournament, raising money for Cranford Hospice. This is on the 4th of October, set to be another well-attended event on Cranford’s calendar leading up to the Hawke’s Bay Wine Auction.
”The Rotary Golf Tournament is an excellent opportunity for local businesses to get on board and show support for Cranford Hospice” adds Phil Williams.
Craigs Investment Partners opened their Hawke’s Bay branch earlier this year and have been proud supporters of Hospice NZ since 2008. During this time, their 18 branches and head office have been involved in a variety of activities to raise funds for hospices across the country.
“It’s important to us as a business and as individuals to support the communities we operate and live in,” concludes Phil. “It’s very much the fabric of the culture at Craigs.”
