Laundry Volunteer

Daily | Approximately 10.30am – 2.30pm
Shifts are dependent on hospice occupancy and laundry requirements.

Behind every comfortable bed and freshly laundered item of clothing is someone helping to make hospice feel like home.

As a Laundry Volunteer, you’ll play an important role in supporting our patients and care team by ensuring fresh linen and clothing are always available. Working independently and supported by our Household Coordinator, you’ll help create a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment for those receiving care.

This is a practical, hands-on role that makes a meaningful difference every day.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Checking with the Housekeeper prior to your shift to confirm volunteer support is required that day.
  • Washing, drying, folding, ironing, and putting away bed linen, kitchen linen, and patient clothing.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, including the use of personal protective equipment when required.
  • Following established laundry procedures and guidelines.
  • Keeping the laundry area clean, organised, and tidy throughout your shift.
  • Reporting any incidents or hazards promptly to the Housekeeper on duty.

What we’re looking for:

  • Someone who takes pride in doing a job well.
  • Good attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • Reliability and the ability to work independently.
  • A caring attitude and an understanding of the importance of comfort and dignity in hospice care.

Fresh linen and clean clothing may seem like small things, but they make a big difference to the comfort, wellbeing, and dignity of our patients. By volunteering in our laundry, you’ll be helping provide the little touches that make Cranford Hospice feel warm, welcoming, and homely.
