Garden Volunteer

Wednesdays | 9.00am – 12.00pm

Do you enjoy gardening, being outdoors, and making a meaningful difference in your community?

Our beautiful gardens are an important part of the Cranford Hospice experience, providing a peaceful and welcoming environment for patients, families/whānau, visitors, staff, and volunteers. As a Garden Volunteer, you’ll help maintain and enhance these special spaces while working alongside a friendly and dedicated team.

Whether you’re an experienced gardener or simply enjoy getting your hands dirty, your contribution will help ensure our gardens continue to be a place of comfort, reflection, and enjoyment for everyone who visits.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assisting with seasonal gardening tasks including weeding, mulching, edging, pruning, planting, raking, digging, and general garden maintenance.
  • Helping prepare and care for garden beds and pathways.
  • Contributing ideas and participating in discussions about the ongoing development of the hospice gardens.
  • Cleaning and maintaining garden tools and equipment after each session.
  • Ensuring equipment is safely stored at the end of each shift.
  • Being a friendly and welcoming presence for patients, families/whānau, visitors, and staff who enjoy spending time in the gardens.

What we’re looking for:

  • A love of gardening and being outdoors.
  • A willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Reliability and a positive attitude.
  • An appreciation for the role our gardens play in supporting those receiving hospice care.

Join us and help create a beautiful environment that brings comfort and joy to those who need it most.
