Laundry Volunteer
About the role
Behind every comfortable bed and freshly laundered item of clothing is someone helping to make Cranford Hospice feel like home.
As a Laundry Volunteer, you’ll support our patients and care team by ensuring fresh linen and clothing are available when needed. Working independently and with support from our Household Coordinator, you’ll help maintain a clean, comfortable and welcoming environment for those receiving care.
This is a practical, hands-on role where your contribution makes a difference every day.
Time commitment
Daily, approximately 10.30am–2.30pm.
Shifts are dependent on hospice occupancy and laundry requirements.
What you’ll bring
- Checking with the Housekeeper before your shift to confirm volunteer support is required.
- Washing, drying, folding, ironing and putting away bed linen, kitchen linen and patient clothing.
- Following established laundry procedures and maintaining appropriate hygiene standards.
- Using personal protective equipment when required.
- Keeping the laundry area clean, organised and tidy.
- Reporting any incidents or hazards promptly to the Housekeeper on duty.
