Car Valet Assistant
About the role
If you enjoy looking after cars and practical, hands-on work, this could be the volunteer role for you.
Cranford Hospice is looking for a Car Valet Assistant to help keep our fleet of vehicles clean, tidy and well maintained. These vehicles are used by our teams when visiting patients and whānau across the community, so keeping them presentable and cared for helps our staff make a professional impression.
You’ll take vehicles for washing, vacuum and clean vehicle interiors, including dashboards, consoles, carpets, seats, door trims and hinges. You’ll also complete vehicle checklists and report any damage or repairs required.
The role is suited to someone who enjoys working independently, being outdoors and practical tasks. You’ll need to be comfortable following manufacturers’ instructions when using cleaning products and carrying out manual work.
Time commitment
Approximately 2–3 hours per fortnight or monthly, including weekends.
A current New Zealand driver licence is required. A Ministry of Justice background check and Police background check are also required.
What you’ll bring
- A current and clean New Zealand driver licence.
- An interest in cars and keeping things clean and tidy.
- A practical, hands-on approach.
- The ability to work independently.
- The physical ability to safely undertake manual work.
- An enjoyment of working outdoors.
- The ability to safely follow manufacturers’ instructions when using and mixing cleaning products.
- Reliability and attention to detail.
- A commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
- A commitment to Cranford Hospice’s values and health and safety requirements.
