The support from Pub Charity’s makes a real difference in the lives of people being cared for by Cranford Hospice. As one of our major funding partners for 2018/19, Pub Charity has enabled our nurses to provide care for 213 people living with a life-limiting condition in Napier. These patients and their families and whānau received a total of 5,172 contacts with our nurses – our nurses either visited them at home; provided support over the phone, in writing or email; or worked with the patients health care provider to ensure that they receive the best end of life care possible. Our nurses were available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Approximately 22 nurses worked in Napier to care for these patients during this period. Whether that be the nurses who have a roster to support the Napier region, casual nurses, or nurses usually based in our inpatient unit. Flexibility is necessary for our team to meet the needs of our community as they arise, and we truly appreciate the generosity of Pub Charity to make this happen.
