Help us keep reaching children like Milly
Every day, our nurses, therapists and care teams travel across Hawke’s Bay to support patients and their families.
For many, these visits mean they can remain in a familiar environment where they feel safest and most comfortable.
Rising fuel costs are making every journey more expensive.
Your gift, doubled today, can help Cranford Hospice buy a hybrid vehicle—keeping our nurses, therapists and care teams on the road across Hawke’s Bay.
Why a hybrid vehicle?
- Fuel costs keep climbing. Rising prices are now adding an extra $1,200 on average per month to the cost of community visits.
- Our reach is big. Every month, our team makes around 1,080 visits and spends 324 hours travelling across Hawke’s Bay.
- A one-off fix, not an ongoing cost. A hybrid lowers running costs for years.
- Built for rural distances. From Māhia to Takapau, our care depends on a vehicle that can comfortably cover long rural journeys, week after week.

Milly's story
Milly is eight years old—creative, thoughtful, and more likely to draw her feelings than talk about them.
After her much-loved grandad, Michael, died earlier this year, our Interactive Drawing and Music Therapist, Laura, began meeting with her each week at her school in rural Hawke’s Bay.
What started as a simple idea grew into a whole world of monsters, each representing a different feeling. Milly’s favourite is the funny monster, who always has a joke ready, and his twin, the calm monster.
“It was cool to discover monsters and draw them. When some kids see it, they might want to do it too, to help with their feelings.” — Milly
“Milly seems a lot less anxious now, and a lot calmer.” — Jo, Milly’s mum
None of this happens without someone being able to get in a car and go.
Laura’s visits to Milly are just one of the thousands of journeys our team makes every month.
