In addition to the $35 registration fee, we’re suggesting that each adult raises $80 (or more!)—that’s $10 from 8 friends or family.

What is the Glow Orange Night Walk?
The Glow Orange Night Walk is a fun, family-friendly night walk held in support of Cranford Hospice. Participants walk together, glowing orange, to honour loved ones, raise awareness, and help fund compassionate hospice care in our community.
Do I need to register in advance?
Yes, registration is required. This helps us plan the event safely and ensures you receive important updates. You can register online via the Glow Orange Night Walk page on Grassrootz.
Is there a registration fee?
Yes, adults $35, children $15 and infants are free. We’re also encouraging adult participants to fundraise $80 (or more!). All the fundraising proceeds go towards supporting Cranford Hospice and the vital care we provide to patients and families.
Can I enter as a team?
Yes! You can create a team or join an existing team. Entering as a team means you can also fundraise as a team making it more fun and a bit easier.
Do I have to fundraise?
You don’t have to fundraise to participate in the Glow Orange Night Walk. But we do encourage you to reach out to your friends, family and colleagues to see if they will support you and Cranford Hospice. Ticket sales and sponsorship cover the cost of the event, participant fundraising is what will help us reach our $40,000 goal. The money that participants fundraise or donate will go directly towards funding patient care and ensuring all families are supported during one of life’s most difficult moments.

Who can take part?
The walk is open to everyone. Families, friends, colleagues, schools, and community groups are all welcome. Children must be always supervised by a responsible adult.
Do I need to be super fit?
Not at all. The Glow Orange Night Walk is designed to be accessible and enjoyable for most people. You’re welcome to walk at your own pace and take breaks if needed.

If I use a wheelchair, can I participate in the Glow Orange night walk?
Absolutely, the course is fully paved, making it accessible for all! You may need some assistance over the railway lines.
Can we bring pushchairs/prams for small children?
Absolutely, the course is fully paved, making it accessible for all! Skateboards and bikes are not recommended for the safety of other walkers. Infants (under the age of 5 years) may bring scooters to ride the course.
What is happening at the finish line?
The Napier soundshell is our event hub, and will feature local musicians, dance groups, street performers, food trucks, a silent disco, or buy a star to add to our memory wall in remembrance of a loved one. The Event Hub is open to all participants and spectators so come down, and Glow Orange for Cranford Hospice!
What time does the event start?
Checkin opens at 5pm, with the first group of walkers starting at 5.30pm. We recommend arriving early, to purchase additional glow gear and soak up the atmosphere. There’ll be a short safety briefing and warm up to make sure everyone is ready to have fun!
Where does the walk start and finish?
The walk will start at Perfume Point and finish at the Napier Sound Shell. Full event details, including course information and parking, will be emailed to registered participants closer to the event and you can view the course map here.
Where do I park?
There is no allocated parking for this event. You will need to park in public carparks and roadside parking.
How do I get back to the start line from the finish line?
If you need to get back to the start line from the finish line the Art Deco Bus will be running a free shuttle service at the end of the event.
What should I wear?
our registration pack includes a Glow Orange Night Walk t-shirt, thanks to our t-shirt sponsor, MCL Construction. You will also get a glowing star headband and race number. Your race number will have space on it to write you or why you’re walking in the Glow Orange Night Walk.
We encourage everyone to wear orange or glowing accessories to help light up the night.
Comfortable walking shoes (no bare feet) and weatherappropriate clothing are recommended.
Glow sticks and other accessories will be available to purchase at the event and when you collect your registration pack.
Will glow items be provided?
Yes! Participants will receive glow star headband in their registration pack. You’ll be able to purchase additional glow items on the night. You’re also welcome to bring additional glow accessories or orange decorations to add to the fun.
Can I walk in memory of someone?
Absolutely. The Glow Orange Night Walk is a special opportunity to remember and honour loved ones. You can write the name of someone or the reason why you’re walking on your race number. There will also be the option to add someone to our memory wall for a small donation at the finish line.
What happens if it rains?
The walk will go ahead rain or shine unless conditions are unsafe. In the event of cancellation or changes, registered participants will be contacted directly.
I can no longer attend, what are my options?
All ticket purchases are non-refundable except where required under New Zealand consumer law. If you can no longer attend, you may transfer your registration to another participant. A $5 admin fee applies.
Can I bring my dog?
For safety and comfort reasons, dogs are generally not permitted unless they are registered assistance animals.
What are the Glow Orange Night Walk Rules?
We are coming together to walk, jog or dance for compassionate care! Let’s stay safe and inclusive for all so here are the rules:
- Please follow the instructions of event staff, volunteers, course marshals and road safety wardens.
- The course is on The Rotary Pathway is a public area and will not be closed to the public, so please be aware of pedestrians and cyclists who are also using the path.
- Please try to keep left on the course when you see others coming towards you.
- Port Gates (West and East)—please listen to the marshals who are there to get you across the Port gateways safely. If they ask you to stop, please do so. This isn’t a timed event or a race. We are all there to have fun, and we want to get you to the finish line safely!
- The course is accessible for all, however there are some uneven surfaces along the way. Please take extra care.
- Suitable footwear is essential.
- Children aged 12 years and under completing the course must be accompanied and supervised by a paying adult. Participants aged 13 years and over can go solo but must be supervised by a responsible adult when not on the course.
- The Glow Orange Night walk is a family-friendly, alcohol-free and drug-free event. Please help us keep it safe and welcoming for all.
- No pets—pets are not permitted. Certified assistance dogs are welcome.
