This course supports healthcare professionals and volunteers to respond with confidence, compassion and sensitivity when caring for people experiencing grief and loss.
During two half-day sessions, you will explore communication skills, active listening and practical strategies for offering support in challenging situations, including when difficult questions arise.
This workshop provides space to reflect on personal experiences of grief, the emotional impact of caring, signs of possible complicated grief and the importance of self-care when supporting others.
By the end of this two-half day workshop, you will be able to:
- understand key concepts of grief and loss
- recognise challenges when supporting grieving people
- use active listening and compassionate communication
- respond safely when concerned about a person’s wellbeing
- identify signs of possible complicated grief
- reflect on self-care and the cost of caring.
To complete this course, you will need to attend both half-day sessions: 20 November 2026 and 27 Novemember 2027
