Introducing Community Volunteering
Introducing Community Volunteering
Our new community volunteering programme provides emotional support to carers and patients of Cranford Hospice.
After a successful pilot in 2020 and extensive training earlier this year, our Community Volunteers are now being matched with carers or patients who would benefit from receiving this additional support. The Community Volunteer’s role is complementary and in addition to the current services offered by the team at Cranford Hospice.
The end-of-life journey can bring unique challenges and heightened emotions, fears and feelings of isolation; the Community Volunteers create a space where our patient or carer can feel heard and receive extra support.
The volunteers are linked with the Family Support Team at hospice who support them in their role.
This new programme helps our team to continue to best support patients, carers, family and whānau during their journey with us.
If you are interested in becoming one of our community volunteers, please contact Amanda, our Volunteer Coordinator, on 06 878 7047 or by email.
