Equipment Delivery Assistant/Driver
About the role
Cranford Hospice loans electric beds and other equipment to patients to support their comfort and quality of life at home.
Equipment Delivery Assistant/Drivers work in pairs to collect equipment from Cranford Hospice in Hastings and deliver it to patients’ homes across Hastings and Napier. When equipment is no longer required, volunteers collect it and return it to the hospice.
This is a practical role that also involves entering patients’ homes, sometimes at a difficult time in their lives. A caring, respectful and sensitive approach is essential.
When equipment is returned, volunteers check it for damage or missing parts, clean it and safely store it ready for the next patient. Some equipment components weigh up to 30kg and need to be loaded into a small truck, so a reasonable level of physical fitness is required.
Time commitment
Tuesday and Friday, 9.30am-12pm.
Wednesday, 12pm-3pm.

- The ability to work independently when required.
- The physical ability to safely undertake manual handling, including moving equipment weighing up to 30kg.
- A commitment to maintaining patient and whānau confidentiality.
- A current New Zealand driver licence.
