When you use a health or disability service in New Zealand, like Cranford Hospice, you have the protection of a Code of Rights. 

Patient Rights

The Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers’ Rights provides 10 rights.

  1. The right to be treated with respect. 
  2. The right to freedom from discrimination, coercion, harassment, and exploitation. 
  3. The right to dignity and independence. 
  4. The right to services of an appropriate standard. 
  5. The right to effective communication. 
  6. The right to be fully informed. 
  7. The right to make an informed choice and give informed consent. 
  8. The right to support. 
  9. Rights in respect of teaching or research. 
  10. The right to complain. 

If you have any comments or concerns about the service provided by Cranford Hospice, we welcome you to give feedback to us directly so that we can develop a solution or improve our services. 

If you feel uncomfortable contacting us directly or you would like guidance, you can request the support of an independent Health and Disability Advocate, who is trained to help people in your situation. 

Anyone can complain to the Health and Disability Commission about a health or disability service; we have included their contact details below. This service is free of charge.
