Cranford Hospice would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the Hawke’s Bay community following our annual Street Appeal, held in late March 2026. 

Across more than 30 collection points throughout the region, volunteers and supporters came together for three days of generosity, making a real difference for patients and whānau across Hawke’s Bay. 

Thanks to this collective effort, an incredible $38,105.90 was raised. Every dollar raised helps us continue providing specialist palliative care to people and their whānau, whether at home, in hospital, or in our inpatient unit. 

Carol-Ann Stubbs, Cranford Hospice’s Development and Engagement Director, acknowledged the wider impact of the appeal.  “What we saw over those three days was the very best of Hawke’s Bay.   People giving what they could, stopping to chat, and showing real care for others. Every conversation, every coin, every donation contributes to care that supports patients and whānau at a time when it matters most, and we’re overwhelmed with the generosity shown this year”. 

Throughout the appeal, many of our volunteers experienced meaningful moments of connection. For some, it was a simple smile or a quick conversation; for others, it was hearing how Cranford care has touched the lives of friends, family, and neighbours. 

A sentiment often shared was: “You never know when you might need Cranford”. It’s a reminder of just how far-reaching hospice care is, and how important it is to keep these services available for everyone in our community. 

Cranford Hospice provides specialist palliative care across a range of settings, in people’s homes, in our inpatient unit, and alongside hospital teams. Each year, we must raise approximately $4 million to continue offering this care at no cost to patients and whānau.
