About the Organisation
Cranford Hospice Trust is a much loved and well supported charitable organisation. It is a recognised provider of specialist palliative care to the wider Hawke’s Bay Community. Their dedicated and passionate team of staff and volunteers provide valuable care, expertise, knowledge, empowerment, support and services to the community.
Now is a crucial moment in the history of the Trust. After an impressive tenure, the incumbent CEO leaves the organisation in a strong position to embrace new challenges and exciting opportunities on the horizon. These include health reforms, changing models of care and the greenlight to build a $20 million community asset and a new home for Cranford.

This is a significant position of leadership that will hold a high profile in the Hawke’s Bay community presenting opportunities that are rare in the career of a CEO. If you have a legacy mindset and want to make a difference that will continue long after you’re gone, this is it.
Reporting to the Trust Board and leading a passionate and committed team of staff and volunteers, the Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for leading every aspect of the organisation’s strategic direction and operational service development. This encompasses palliative care and professional services, financial management, people and culture, PR and fundraising, quality and innovation.
We are looking for a CEO with enormous warmth and integrity who will maintain and build further on the excellent reputation this organisation holds and keep its vision and purpose at the forefront of conversations locally, regionally and nationally. You will be representing Cranford while connecting, engaging, strengthening and cultivating strategic relationships and warm conversations with community, donors, stakeholders and mana whenua. You will be involved in the new build, working alongside the Cranford Hospice Foundation.
You will be a CEO with proven skills and experience leading and growing organisations, people, and services within complex and dynamic environments. Essential here is your involvement with, and understanding of the health sector – history, relationships, funding mechanisms, and the changing landscape. You’ll have strong commercial capability, political nous, and the ability to generate enduring strategic relationships.
Exceptional leadership, people and communication skills are required, with the ability to think strategically and execute operationally. You’ll be a natural networker and relationship builder who is warm and engaging. You will be resilient, demonstrate a stable career to date and will have a genuine connection with the Hawke’s Bay community in some way.
